The History of Black Hair

Join us for an afternoon celebrating the history, culture, and fabulousness of black hair! We'll be discussing the origin of cosmetology, the differences between African American hair and the hair of other ethnicities, as well as demonstrating how to do a few hairstyles!  

About the presenters:

Gwen Green is employed with Caroline County Public Schools and works at the high school level as the In School Suspension Coordinator.  She implemented a hair program for elementary school students to come to the high school to get their hair done. Gwen is also a Step Team Coach, part of the Impact Club and a substitute instructor in the Cosmetology Department.

Tia Courtney works at Caroline High School as the Cosmetology teacher.  She has been in an instructional role for 10 years, a hairstylist for 30+ years, a makeup artist and lashtician for 4 years and owner of several businesses. She attended QC Academy for Makeup artistry and is currently attending Liberty University for a Masters degree in Family and Marriage counseling.
