"The Other Side of the Coin: Race, Generations & Reconciliation" Documentary screening and discussion

Join us for a screening of Frederick Murphy’s “The Other Side of the Coin: Race, Generations & Renconciliation.” This documentary collects experiences and thoughts that address the complexity of race in America, ultimately asking the question: How do we reconcile for the sake of future generations and humanity? After the screening, Frederick Murphy will take questions from the audience alongside Bill Sizemore, who is featured in the documentary and is the author of Uncle George and Me: Two Southern Families Confront a Shared Legacy of Slavery.

In 2016, Frederick Murphy founded History Before Us, a project focused on preserving and advocating for influential but under-documented history. In 2017, he began interviewing survivors of Jim Crow in the South, compiling these interviews into the award-winning documentary, “The American South as We Know It.”

Author Bill Sizemore was formerly a journalist for the Virginian-Pilot. He is now a member of Coming to the Table, an organization dedicated to healing through dialogue and dismantling racial inequality.
