Evicted In Richmond

Evicted In Richmond

Five of the top 10 cities in the U.S. with the highest eviction rates are in Virginia. Richmond is No. 2. In 2017 alone, 9,381 renters in the city of Richmond received a writ of eviction. How did we get here? We have partnered with Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia, with the help of the National Building Museum and VCU, to present an interactive, multimedia exhibit that explores Richmond’s role in this national housing crisis.

An opening night reception will be held in the Dooley Foyer on Friday, January 3rd at 6:30. Exhibit will be on display in the Dooley Foyer, Gellman Room, and 2nd floor galleries for the month of January and will relocate to the auditorium in February.

Pick up a copy of Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matt Desmond at any Richmond Public Library, while supplies last, and join us for a discussion of the book on Friday, January 17th at 12 and Wednesday, January 22nd at 6, each followed by a tour of the exhibit.

Time:
