Rosa D. Bowser: Virginia Profiles in Courage, Leadership, and Social Justice

Learn more about the life and work of civic leader and educator, Rosa L. Dixon Bowser in this engaging lecture by public historian and author, Elvatrice Belsches.

Elvatrice Belsches is a Richmond-area public historian, author, curator and filmmaker who specializes in chronicling the African-American experience in history here in Central Virginia and beyond.  She lectures locally and nationally on various aspects of their journeys.

Belsches is the author of the publication, Black America Series: Richmond, Virginia (Arcadia Publishing, 2002) and eight biographical entries for the highly acclaimed, African American National Biography (Oxford University Press).  She authored the narration and conducted the research for the documentary, The Life and Times of Elizabeth Keckly (2014), and was also honored to serve as the in-studio researcher on Steven Spielberg’s motion picture, Lincoln, under Academy Award-winning Production Designer Rick Carter (Avatar ; Lincoln )She has several publications and documentaries under development.
