Our AAGHS meeting will present a screening of "The Hail Storm: John Dabney in Virginia" will be presented and discussed. Richmond, Virginia native, John Dabney was born into slavery and bought his freedom after 41 years of servitude.. A notable bartender in the 19th century in Richmond, Virginia's high society circle, he is noted for select culinary recipes. He was also a principled family man and successfully raised with his wife his five children. Among the children's professional careers were school teachers, a musician to newspaper editor and a professional baseball player.
