Palestinian Tatreez Embroidery

Tatreez is a Palestinian embroidery style that shares similarities with cross stitch. Often intricately decorating the thobe, a traditional Palestinian woman's garment, different motifs and styles of tatreez symbolize history, life events, memory, and place, telling the story of the wearer's life. Participants will learn about the history and evolution of tatreez, which has often served as a tool of resistance, memory, and cultural pride. You will learn to stitch basic motifs and be sent home with the tools to learn more!
