Movie Matinees: "Brian Banks" (2018)
Enjoy a movie with us that you may have missed at the theater! This week's film is Brian Banks.
An inspirational docudrama – based on a true story – of all-American high school football star Brian Banks. At 16, he is wrongfully convicted of a crime he didn’t commit. He loses his football scholarship to USC and spends the next ten years in jail. After his release, he determinedly fights to reclaim his life and fulfill his dream of playing in the NFL. Not only does this film explore the complex issue of sexual assault, it clearly illustrates the systemic problems in our justice system – specifically in regards to race- and class-based prejudices.
