Get to know local inspiring writer Tejumade Ogunmokun, author of Glowing Through What We Grow Through. She will share her impactful message and lead you through an artful craft that you can take home as a reminder to GLOW through any adversity. (And perhaps she will share a beauty secret, or two, as well!) Copies of Glowing Through What We Grow Through will be available for purchase at the Overcoming Adversity GLOW Workshop

Tejumade Ogunmokun is a multifaceted woman of God, deeply devoted to her roles as a mother, sister, daughter, aunt, soulmate, teacher, model, and friend. Her greatest joy is being the mother of her amazing son, Imari, who brings light and purpose to her life. 

Tejumade is committed to personal and professional growth. She is the CEO and Founder of Touched by Tejumade Beauty & Cosmetics, where she uses her God-given talents in hairstyling, makeup artistry, and fashion expertise to empower and uplift women in her community.

Writing with purpose, she aims to help others heal by sharing her own experiences and triumphs, turning life’s challenges into powerful testimonies. She has also published two other books.

An unstoppable and phenomenal woman of faith, Tejumade is on a continuous journey of learning, growth, and self-improvement. Her mission is to inspire others to rise above adversity and find their inner strength, just as she has.

This Workshop is free to participants, but seats are limited. Please register in advance to reserve your seat!

Meldon Jenkins-Jones is the Richmond Public Library / Community Services Manager at Hull Street Branch Library. 

Meldon also chairs the Get Lit Advisory Committee which supports the Richmond Public Library Get Lit Reading Initiatives including the Black Male Emergent Readers (BMER) program and the Lit Chicks Read book clubs.

Meldon is a graduate of the Leadership Metro Richmond Class of 2022. She was the first recipient of the Virginia Library Association (VLA) Librarians of Color Forum Award in 2021 and is an active member of VLA. She presented “Libraries Bringing Community Together” at the 2023 VLA Annual Conference.

In 2011, Meldon received her Master of Library and Information Studies from Florida State University. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law—Newark and practiced law in New Jersey until her retirement in 2003. Meldon received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she studied African American Studies and Russian Civilization.

A Metro Richmond resident, Meldon is the mother of two adult children and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
