 This program is cancelled - Three Virginia writers discuss the spiritual journey to overcoming adversity.

Carlita L. Coley is a Licensed Professional Counselor, author and advocate.  She is the founder of Melanin Mental Health and Wellness, LLC, Carlita's Creative, LLC and the Rescue Black Project. After establishing her private practice in 2020, she began writing in 2023 to educate, empower, and inspire women to heal, grow and prosper despite adversity. www.carlitacoley.com  

Lynn Lewis is a certified grief coach and author who supports adults aged 50 and above who are navigating the aftermath of suicide loss. Her mission is to empower her clients to lead meaningful and impactful lives despite the profound loss they have experienced. Using her personal story, her goal is moving from pain to peace, from grief to gratitude.  www.destinedtothrivegriefcoaching.com 

Pamela Nichols is a former journalist who writes Christian fiction. Her characters face challenging life situations (eating disorders, depression, emotional trauma, racism) that require more than church as usual. Her stories combine the ongoing battle in the unseen realm and inherited generational behavior.  Pamela is also an editor, podcast host and certified life coach who helps women identify and overcome faulty spiritual mindsets.  www.pamelawrites.org

Meldon Jenkins-Jones is the Richmond Public Library / Community Services Manager at Hull Street Branch Library. 

Meldon also chairs the Get Lit Advisory Committee which supports the Richmond Public Library Get Lit Reading Initiatives including the Black Male Emergent Readers (BMER) program and the Lit Chicks Read book clubs.

Meldon is a graduate of the Leadership Metro Richmond Class of 2022. She was the first recipient of the Virginia Library Association (VLA) Librarians of Color Forum Award in 2021 and is an active member of VLA. She presented “Libraries Bringing Community Together” at the 2023 VLA Annual Conference.

In 2011, Meldon received her Master of Library and Information Studies from Florida State University. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law—Newark and practiced law in New Jersey until her retirement in 2003. Meldon received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she studied African American Studies and Russian Civilization.

A Metro Richmond resident, Meldon is the mother of two adult children and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
