Gellman Room Concerts: RVA Baroque

Gellman Room Concerts: RVA Baroque

RVA Baroque March Madness: In the spirit of the NCAA championships, four baroque heavy-hitters take their best shot. Richmond's period-instrument ensemble plays Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Telemann. The audience judges each round and chooses the ultimate winner.

RVA Baroque uses historical instruments and techniques to honor the performing arts of the past, while opening doors of possibility for the future. They serve Central Virginia through free and low-cost concerts, outreach, education, and the commissioning of original works. They inspire diverse learners and listeners of all generations to grow, reflect, and rejoice.

Since 1973, the Gellman Room Concerts have been free and open to the public. The concerts were initiated by Myra Knight, Senior Librarian of the Art and Music Department at RPL, “to give Richmond area instrumentalists and vocalists a place to perform and entertain countless music lovers.”
