Credit Inequality and Housing Access by HOME of VA
Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia, a fair housing civil rights organization presents a talk on their “Credit Inequality and Housing Access” exhibit, currently on display at the Main Library. The exhibit focuses on how biased practices in credit and lending contribute to housing inequality and instability. The homeownership gap between Black and White homeowners is greater today than it was 50 years ago. The exhibit will examine how credit disparities and dual credit markets of mainstream and fringe financial services providers have contributed to this racial homeownership gap, the profound consequences of these practices, and how to change these systems of inequities.
